According to the story, Castor and Pollux were the twin sons of Leda, Queen of Sparta. Although they were twins, they had different fathers - Pollux was the son of Zeus and Castor was the son of Tyndareus. So not only did they have different fathers, Castor was mortal, whilst Pollux was immortal.
