Thalassa is the ancient Greek word for sea, and the name of the primordial sea goddess. In ancient poetry, the sea is never only water. In Sappho, it holds desire; in Homer, fate, distance, and return. It becomes a place where the body meets language, where feeling is held, altered, and preserved.
Pearls belong to this same logic of preservation. Formed through time, pressure, and protection, they are small records of contact held inside the body of the shell. In this necklace, freshwater pearls meet a fragment shaped by ancient poems and artefacts — bringing together Sappho’s longing, Homer’s waters, and the sea as memory and force.
The Thalassa II Pearl Necklace is excavated to remind you of what the sea preserves: feeling, origin, and the quiet power of what forms slowly.
Handmade in 925 sterling silver, plated with 18kt gold, and set with freshwater pearls.
